We stock and install LiftMaster-compatible welded components from $145 to $480 installed, with most repairs completed in a single visit after we identify the exact failure point. Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it needs. Most Fort Worth homeowners discover this problem the hard way: a hinge tears loose from the gate frame, a caster bracket snaps at the weld, or a slide-gate roller mount fatigues until the gate drags against the track. The gate still runs, but it sounds wrong, sits crooked, and fights the motor on every cycle. That strain doesn’t stay isolated. It moves upstream into the opener, the limit switch, and the drive gear until the whole system quits.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
Welded fabrication work applies to nearly every LiftMaster gate operator we service in Fort Worth, but the failure points differ by gate type. Slide gates (LiftMaster SL3000, SL585, SL595 series) put constant load on roller brackets and the receiver plate where the chain attaches. Swing gates (CSL24V, LA500, LA412 series) concentrate stress at the hinge welds and the articulating-arm mounting flange. The compatibility gotcha most owners run into: LiftMaster’s residential LA400/LA500 arms use a specific pivot-bolt spacing that some aftermarket weld-on brackets don’t match. You’ll end up slotting holes with a grinder, and that weakens the mount. We match the bracket to the arm, not the other way around. On OEM versus aftermarket: for structural parts like hinge plates and roller brackets, a quality aftermarket weldment in thicker steel (3/16″ or 1/4″ plate) recovers the original strength. For anything that bolts directly to the LiftMaster operator housing, we use OEM.
Quick identification check
- The model number is on a silver tag on the operator housing, usually on the side facing away from the gate.
- Measure the hinge-plate bolt spacing before ordering anything. LA400 and LA412 use different spacing than the CSL24V arm mount.
- Texas heat accelerates weld fatigue on powder-coated brackets that hold moisture against the steel. If the coating is blistered, the weld underneath is suspect, even if it looks intact.

Signs Your LiftMaster Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- Gate sits low on the free end after closing. The hinge welds are stretching or cracking, and the gate’s weight is now bearing on the operator arm instead of the hinges. The motor compensates until the limit switch reads the wrong position.
- Metallic popping when the gate reverses direction. This is usually a cracked weld at the arm bracket or roller mount. The joint holds under tension, then shifts when load reverses. It gets louder every week.
- Visible rust staining around a weld seam. Water has gotten under the powder coat and is corroding the weld from the inside. By the time you see staining on the outside, the structural cross-section is compromised.
- The gate shudders mid-travel but cycles fine when you push it manually. A broken weld at a roller bracket lets the gate climb and drop as it moves, but only under motor power. Manual pushing masks the problem.
- Operator motor runs hotter than it used to. Heat is a symptom of drag. When a weld fails, the gate leans into the track, and the LiftMaster motor works harder every cycle. You’ll notice it first in July and August in Fort Worth.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed welding and fabrication repair in Fort Worth typically runs $145 to $480 depending on what failed and how much grinding, fitting, and reinforcement the job needs. A simple hinge-plate weld repair on a residential swing gate falls at the low end. Replacing a slide-gate roller bracket with custom fabrication and alignment work lands at the top of the range. The price is written before any work starts, and it doesn’t move at the door. That price includes the material, the weld, grinding clean, and a protective coating matched to the existing finish where practical. Every repair carries our written guarantee for a full year. If the weld fails inside that window, the second visit is free.
What drives the range
- Access. A hinge repair on a gate with clear working room costs less than one squeezed against a Fort Worth fence line or stone column.
- Steel thickness. Repairing a 1/8″ stamped bracket is fast. Re-fabricating a 1/4″ plate mount takes longer and burns more rod.
- Alignment work. If the failure let the gate sag, we re-align the gate to the operator after the weld. That’s part of the job, not an add-on, but it affects total labor.

Some things are worth looking at yourself. If you see a broken weld, you’ve found the problem. If the gate is visibly sagging, the hinges need attention. But here’s the honest split: welding on a gate that’s under tension, or trying to weld a bracket while the gate is still hanging, is how people get hurt. A gate that lets go mid-repair swings hard and fast. And an electric gate needs the operator disengaged and the power shut down before any welding happens, because stray current from a welder can fry the control board. We’ve replaced boards on Fort Worth gates where a well-meaning welder didn’t unhook the operator first. That’s a $300 mistake on top of the original repair. If you’re experienced with a welder and the gate is properly blocked and unplugged, a simple bracket repair is doable. If any of those conditions are fuzzy, call us at (817) 840-7067 instead. The written estimate is free, and it’s a lot cheaper than a ruined control board.
FAQs
A properly welded and coated hinge plate or roller bracket on a LiftMaster gate should last 8 to 12 years in Fort Worth’s climate. The failures we see are almost always on original welds that were under-sized at the factory, or on brackets that collected water against the steel and rusted from the inside. Texas heat expands the steel and opens micro-cracks in old weld seams faster than cooler climates do.
Most failed welds can be re-welded if the surrounding steel is still sound. If the metal around the weld is thin from rust, or the bracket is bent out of true, replacement is the honest answer. Re-welding a compromised part just moves the failure point six months down the road. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before any work starts.
Most single-part weld repairs on a LiftMaster gate take 60 to 90 minutes on site. That includes grinding the old weld clean, fitting the repair, welding, coating, and a full cycle test. If the failure caused misalignment or we’re replacing a bracket rather than repairing it, plan on two to three hours.
We carry common weld-on brackets, hinge plates, and roller mounts for LiftMaster operators on the truck, along with the steel stock to fabricate a custom piece if the original part isn’t available or never fit properly in the first place. We also stock parts for Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing systems. For OEM LiftMaster parts that bolt directly to the operator, a quick trip to the supply house usually has the job done same day. Call (817) 840-7067 and we’ll confirm what’s on hand before we head out.
