BFT hinge and roller replacement in Fort Worth typically runs $280 to $520 installed, depending on the gate’s size and how many rollers need replacing. We stock BFT-compatible rollers and hinges on our trucks and can usually swap a worn set the same day we diagnose it. Most homeowners find us when their gate starts dragging across the concrete, makes a grinding noise, or starts sagging at the latch side like a tired barn door. That sag is your first real clue: when BFT rollers wear down, the gate’s weight shifts onto the hinge pins, and then those wear too, compounding the problem faster than you’d expect.
We’re an independent Fort Worth gate repair company. We’re not affiliated with BFT, but we work on their equipment daily, and we know which hinges and rollers interchange across their slide and swing gate lines.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
BFT uses a few distinct roller profiles across their product line, and the wrong roller won’t just fit poorly, it’ll accelerate wear on the track and the gate frame. The most common Fort Worth installs we see are the BFT Deimos and BFT Icaro slide gate operators, paired with Deimos kit gates or fabricated steel gates. Those use a U-groove roller that rides a 1-1/2″ steel track, and the roller diameter matters: older Deimos kits shipped with 90mm rollers, while newer production uses 100mm. If you grab a 100mm roller off the shelf and bolt it onto an older gate, your gate sits 10mm higher, and that throws off your photocell alignment and your limit switch positioning.
For BFT swing gates, the failure point is usually the hinge itself, especially on Manuel and Giuno operator setups. Those hinges take a beating in Texas because the heat cycles every day from April through October, expanding the steel and working the hinge pin loose over a couple of seasons. OEM BFT hinges are cast aluminum with a steel pin, and that pin is the consumable. Quality aftermarket replacements use a hardened steel pin, and in our experience, the aftermarket pin actually lasts longer in North Texas than the OEM one, because BFT’s European spec doesn’t account for our heat and our gate weights.
If you need to identify what you have: check the roller bracket for a stamped number, usually a two-digit code starting with a letter. No number? Measure the roller diameter in millimeters and the track width the groove rides on. That measurement takes about 30 seconds and it tells us everything we need before we show up.

Signs Your BFT Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- Gate drags or scrapes along the track or concrete – this means the roller has flat-spotted or the bearing inside seized. A seized roller doesn’t roll; it skids, and every skid wears a flat edge, which makes the drag worse. You’ll see metal filings building up on the track like black dust.
- Gate sags at the free end, latch doesn’t line up anymore – when the roller wears down, the gate nose drops. That puts weight on the latch plate and bends it over time, and then your BFT operator is pushing against misaligned hardware every cycle. The motor strains harder, the amp draw rises, and the board notices.
- Grinding, squeaking, or a rhythmic thumping while the gate opens – a thump that repeats every few seconds usually means a flat-spotted roller hitting the same place on the track every rotation. The pattern is as regular as a heartbeat, and it means the roller is done.
- Gate vibrates or shudders during travel – this one’s usually a combination of a worn roller and a hinge pin with play in it. Loose hinges let the gate ripple as the operator pushes it, and the vibration transmits right up into the motor arm, wearing out the gearbox faster.
- Visible wear on hinge pins: grooves, rust, a pin backing partway out – a hinge pin that walks out of its barrel is a warning sign nobody should ignore. We’ve seen gates hanging off one hinge because the top pin backed out far enough to let the leaf drop. Once it drops, fixing it costs triple.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what BFT hinge and roller replacement actually costs in Fort Worth, installed:
- Single BFT slide gate roller replacement: $95 to $160 per roller, installed
- Pair of BFT slide gate rollers (recommended): $180 to $280 installed
- Single BFT swing gate hinge replacement: $130 to $220 installed
- Full hinge set (top and bottom) on a BFT swing gate: $260 to $400 installed
- Add-on: track cleaning, alignment adjustment, limit switch re-check: included with any roller replacement
The range comes down to gate weight and access. A 400-pound residential slide gate on flat ground is a one-tech, 90-minute job. A 900-pound commercial gate that needs blocking and a second set of hands takes longer. What you’re paying for is the part, the labor to swap it, and the time to realign everything, because a new roller on a gate that’s been dragging for months means the track is out of level and the limits need a reset.
Every job gets a written price before we touch the gate, and that number doesn’t move. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, a written guarantee on every repair. If the roller fails or the gate sags again inside a year, the second visit is free. No argument, no invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can diagnose a BFT roller failure yourself pretty easily: run the gate, watch where it binds, look at the track for metal filings, and check whether the gate sags when it’s open. That inspection is safe and it helps you speak the same language when you call us. What you shouldn’t do is unbolt a roller on a cantilever slide gate or a heavy swing gate without support. A 600-pound gate sitting on a track has stored energy in its weight, and when you pull that roller, the gate drops or shifts. That’s a finger, a hand, or a head caught under steel. Same goes for hinge pins under tension: if the gate is leaning, the pin is loaded. We’ve had a few Fort Worth homeowners call us mid-repair because they got a roller halfway off and couldn’t get the new one seated without the gate bound up. By that point, the gate’s sitting cockeyed on the track and they’re standing out there in the heat with a crescent wrench and a losing battle.
The smart move: call us at (817) 840-7067, tell us what you’re seeing and what brand the operator is, and we’ll get someone out. We carry the common BFT rollers and hinges on the truck, so most of the time, we diagnose it and fix it in the same trip.
FAQs
We tell Fort Worth homeowners to expect 4 to 7 years from a set of BFT rollers on a residential gate that runs a few cycles a day, though Texas heat and any gate misalignment will shorten that. Rollers on a misaligned gate can wear out in 18 months because the load sits on one edge instead of across the groove.
No. A roller with a seized bearing or a flat-spotted wheel has to be replaced; greasing it or dressing the flat spot doesn’t restore the profile or the bearing clearance. The good news is a single roller isn’t expensive, and it’s a commodity fix, not a fabrication job.
Most residential BFT hinge and roller replacements are done in 90 minutes to 2.5 hours, including realigning the gate and re-checking the operator limits. A full commercial slide gate with multiple rollers might take half a day.
Yes. We keep common BFT slide rollers, hinge pins, and hinge plates on the truck, along with rollers for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gates, since a lot of Fort Worth properties have mixed-brand installs. If you have a less common BFT model, we can usually have the exact part by the next business day.
Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it needs. If you’re dragging a BFT gate across the track in Fort Worth, call (817) 840-7067 and we’ll sort out which hinge or roller is done, price it in writing before we start, and stand behind the work for a full year. No surprises, no mess, no gate left worse than we found it.
