Get your free estimateLinear Welding & Fabrication: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
If you’ve got a Linear gate opener with a cracked weld, a snapped bracket, or a mounting plate that’s torn loose, we stock and install Linear-compatible welding and fabrication on the truck and can typically get you back to working order same-day in Fort Worth. Installed pricing for custom weld repair and fabricated replacement brackets on Linear swing and slide gate systems runs $225 to $480 in Fort Worth depending on what failed and whether the part can be salvaged or needs to be rebuilt from bar stock. Most owners discover the problem the same way: the gate starts grinding, sags a half-inch at the far end of its travel, or makes a sharp pop when the motor torques against a weakened mount.
We’re not the only company in Fort Worth that welds, but we’re one of the few that welds gates specifically, and we know how a Linear operator’s torque loads a bracket differently than a LiftMaster or a Mighty Mule. That matters more than most people expect. A weld that holds fine on a 300-lb residential gate fails inside a year on a Linear SLR slide operator if the penetration depth was wrong or the wrong filler rod was used on the original steel. We match the rod to the base metal, not the weather, and we weld hot enough to get full penetration the first time. Lonnie Burke has been pulling weld beads on gate hardware long enough to know that a pretty weld and a strong weld aren’t always the same thing. “Tell me what it’s doing wrong, and I’ll tell you exactly what it needs.”
Carver Gate Repair Fort Worth is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with Linear, Nortek, or Nice S.p.A. We work on their equipment every week, but we don’t represent them, and we don’t sell you a branded sticker at triple the fair price just because it says Linear on it. What we sell is the right repair at a written price.
Which Linear Models This Applies To
Linear welding and fabrication doesn’t mean one single part; it means the structural metalwork that keeps your Linear operator connected to your gate. On Linear swing systems, that’s the mounting plate the actuator bolts to, the gate bracket that ties the piston arm to the gate frame, and the post bracket that anchors the operator to the column or post. On Linear slide systems, that’s the drive rail bracket, the chain idler mount, and the fabricated steel base plate that shims the operator to the correct height over the track.
In Fort Worth’s soil, two of these fail more than any others: post brackets on swing gates and base plates on slide gates. The reason is specific to this region. Fort Worth sits on a lot of expansive clay, known locally as Houston Black and Heiden clay, and it moves. A post that was plumb and true in March is leaning a quarter-inch by August after a dry summer. That quarter-inch turns into torque at the bracket, and torque turns into a cracked weld or a bent plate. We see this pattern on Linear LSO and LS series swing operators and on the SLR and SL slide operators more than on any other brand we service in Fort Worth.
To identify your Linear model, check the metal tag or silver sticker on the operator housing or control box. You’ll see a series letter, followed by a number, followed by a capacity code; for example, LSO-50, SLR-1000, or SL-2000. The capacity code tells you the gate weight and length rating, which tells us the minimum plate thickness and weld specification your mount needs. On the fabrication side, here’s the part most owners don’t get told: if your welded repair part is 1/8-inch steel and the original was 1/4-inch, it won’t matter how clean the weld is. A lot of handyman welds are undersized, and the part fails again within a season. We match or exceed the original material thickness. Always.
We also stock quality aftermarket Linear-compatible brackets and plates for the common LSO, LS, SLR, and SL series mounts. Some of those aftermarket parts are stronger than the OEM stampings because they’re cut from thicker plate and fully welded at the corners rather than spot-welded. But if your operator is under active warranty, OEM is the way to go; the manufacturer won’t honor a claim with a non-Linear structural part installed. We’ll tell you which way to go based on your gate’s age and size, and we won’t upsell you into OEM when an aftermarket part does the same job for less.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate makes a metal-on-metal scraping sound at the hinge or post side, but only when moving. A cracked post bracket or a mounting plate that’s begun to tear at the weld flexes under load and lets the gate lean just enough for the frame to rub against the post or column. The scrape is the sound of the gate’s edge wearing into the steel or masonry.
- The gate sags visibly when it’s at the fully open or fully closed position. This usually means the bracket or plate has deformed, not just cracked. On a Linear LS swing gate, a sag of even an inch at the far end multiplies into a larger load on the actuator, which is how a bracket problem eventually becomes an operator problem too.
- The operator housing is moving or wobbling while the gate is in motion. That movement is the base plate or mounting pad working loose from a cracked weld or a fractured anchor. Left alone, the operator will eventually shift far enough to bind the drive mechanism and strip the gears.
- You can see a hairline crack or rust line running alongside an existing weld bead. Cracks follow the weld’s heat-affected zone, and a thin rust line is often the first visible sign. When you see this on a Linear slide base plate, it’s already past the point where a quick touch-up weld will hold.
- The gate stops mid-travel and reverses for no obvious reason. A weakened bracket or plate changes the geometry while the gate is moving, which trips the Linear obstruction sensor. You may not hear anything or see anything at the mount, but the torque curve tells the board something is wrong, and the opener shuts down.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For Linear welding and fabrication work in Fort Worth, here’s what we charge and what that price covers:
- On-site weld repair of a cracked Linear gate or post bracket: $225 to $340. This includes grinding out the old weld, prepping the surfaces, re-welding with the correct filler rod for the base metal, and a protective coating on the weld zone.
- Fabricated replacement bracket or plate, measured, cut, drilled, and welded on-site: $280 to $420. Price varies by material thickness and size, plus whether we’re working with mild steel plate or need to match an existing galvanized finish.
- Full operator base plate rebuild for Linear SLR and SL slide systems, including shims and re-leveling: $380 to $480. This is the fix for a slide gate that’s been chewing up its own drive rail because the operator pad has settled or cracked.
Your price is written down before we start. Not an estimate, not a range we’ll “narrow down” after we open it up. The number I write on the quote is the number on the invoice. If we find hidden damage once we’re into the job, we stop, show you what we found, and give you a new written number before doing any additional work. Every weld repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if that repair fails within a year of the date of service, we come back and fix it at no charge. No argument, no second invoice.

Here’s the honest split. If you want to identify the problem before you pick up the phone, there are two things you can safely check. First, put on a pair of leather gloves and visually inspect every bracket, plate, and mount point on your Linear operator. Look for cracks, rust lines, or a gap between the plate and the surface it’s bolted to. Second, check the gate’s level with a cheap line level on the top rail. If the gate’s out of level and the brackets look clean, the problem might be a settled post, not a failed weld. That’s worth knowing.
What you should not do is fire up a welder and try to fix a cracked Linear bracket yourself. The failure mode on a badly welded gate bracket is sudden and violent. If the weld fails while the gate is under load, a 300- to 600-lb gate becomes a lever, and the bracket becomes a projectile. We’ve seen homeowners in Fort Worth end up with cracked concrete columns and damaged vehicles. High-amperage welding on galvanized steel also produces zinc fumes that can make you seriously ill within minutes if you’re not protected. This is not a hobby-level repair. If you don’t weld gate hardware for a living, call us at (817) 840-7067 and let us handle it.
How We Work in Fort Worth
When you call Carver Gate Repair Fort Worth, a real person answers the phone. Not a call center, not a voicemail box that says we’ll call you back within two business days. We dispatch background-checked, uniformed technicians who arrive with the right steel, the right rod, and the right tools for the Linear equipment on your property. We leave the site clean and the gate swinging or sliding the way it’s supposed to. We stock weld brackets, fabricated plates, and common Linear-compatible structural parts on the truck, and if we need something uncommon, we’ll source it and schedule the return trip inside the week.
Our work is measured against The Garrison Standard, the same operating standard that’s been in place since 2008. Written price before work starts. Written guarantee on every repair. Free second visit if the repair fails inside the guarantee window. That’s the whole structure, and it doesn’t change by technician, by season, or by neighborhood. We also repair and stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems, but Linear is one of the brands we see most often on Fort Worth’s swing and slide gates.
FAQs
A properly done Linear bracket weld on a correctly sized, correctly leveled gate generally lasts 10 to 15 years in Fort Worth’s climate; after that, the failure is usually rust and metal fatigue at the heat-affected zone, not weld penetration. Poorly done welds fail in 1 to 3 years, and they almost always fail at the toe of the weld, which is why we grind out and redo weak factory or handyman welds rather than laying a second bead over the top. Call (817) 840-7067 if you’re not sure what you’re looking at, and we’ll inspect it.
If the crack is in the original structural plate and hasn’t spread into the bolt holes or the mounting surface, a full grind-out and re-weld is usually a permanent repair; we’ve been doing exactly that on Linear LS and LSO swing gate brackets in Fort Worth for years. If the plate is bent, if the crack runs into an anchor point, or if the steel is rust-thinned to less than half its original thickness, we fabricate a new bracket from scratch rather than trying to patch a part that’s already failed once. Call (817) 840-7067 and we’ll give you a straight assessment and a written price.
A straightforward cracked bracket or mounting plate on a Linear swing or slide gate takes 90 minutes to 3 hours on-site, including grinding, welding, cooling, and a protective coating on the repair zone. A fabricated replacement bracket or full base plate rebuild takes 3 to 5 hours, and most of that time is cutting, drilling, and fitting the new steel to your gate’s existing bolt pattern. Call (817) 840-7067 for a same-day appointment in Fort Worth when the repair is urgent.
Yes, we stock the most common Linear-compatible weld brackets, fabricated post plates, and slide operator base plate materials on our trucks serving Fort Worth and the surrounding areas. For less common Linear models or odd bolt patterns, we’ll measure, fabricate, and weld the part on-site from plate steel we carry as part of our standard gate repair loadout. Call (817) 840-7067 with your operator’s model number and we’ll confirm what we’re bringing before we head your way.
